A career as a Biomedical Technician offers you the opportunity to specialize in biomedical and medical equipment. You will install, repair, calibrate and provide preventive maintenance to ultrasound, defibrillators, telemetry, vital sign monitors and other vital medical equipment used in hospitals and medical facilities.

NTERNSHIPS AND CERTIFICATIONAfter
completing or during your last semester at Vincennes University’s Biomedical Technician Program, you may choose to accept an internship in a hospital’s biomedical electronics repair facility. You will work directly under the supervision of their biomedical staff. Once the internship has been successfully fulfilled and the time requirements are met, the AAMI can administer the CBET Certification examination.T

LACEMENT AND SALARIESStudents in the electronics class of 2003 received job offers with an average starting salary of over $31,000, excluding overtime. Some received starting salaries over $ 35,000. All graduates seeking jobs in biomedical work were placed. Typical Biomedical Technician salaries for experienced technicians is in access of $40,000 per year, with some specializations making as much as twice that amount.
